Middle School Hockey Update

Thanks to all for your interest in Junior Ghosts Hockey!

We've already got as many signups as we ended up with last year, and the season is still two months away.    More players are sure to join.

At the moment, we have committed with the league to at two teams.   Same as last year:  a Grade 6/7 team consisting of peewee players, and a Grade 7/8 team consisting of bantam players and a few peewees who are looking to play up and experience hockey with body-checking.    We'll keep monitoring the situation as more players come in, but that is the way it looks right now.     Once we get a better idea of the total numbers, we'll start asking which peewee players would prefer to be on 7/8 and do body-checking.

The league website is once again is www.vmshl.com.

Some dates of interest:

Weekend of Nov 16 -- The kickoff jamboree.   Our teams will play some short mini-games against VMSHL opponents to establish parity and division seedings.    Exact date, time and rink are TBD.

Early November -- We are looking to hold 1-2 practices for all teams.   These are non-mandatory.   Last year the WA Coaching Staff participated and they are looking to do so again.   Details are coming ASAP.

Weekend of Nov 30 -- The season begins.

Mid-February -- The season ends and single-elimination playoffs happen.

Just like last year, games are expected to be held on Sat and Sun nights, to avoid as many conflicts as possible with your other team.     Naturally, there will be some conflicts regardless, which is why we keep the rosters on the large side.

We're really looking forward to this!   If you have any questions, just hit reply.

Registration Is Open for 2018-19

Welcome back Westford Middle School hockey players!

Registration is now open for the 2018-19 season.    Please click "Register Now" to the right.

The cost for the season is $325, and includes jerseys and socks.

The MS hockey season will be the same as last year:   about 13 games starting after Thanksgiving, followed by single-elimination playoffs in February.    There will be some (non-mandatory) practices offered to your child, and probably more than there were last year, since more ice is now available.    Westford Academy Head Coach Bob Carpenter was at some of these practices last season and we will certainly invite him and his staff again.

It is completely understood that your child plays for other teams and there will be some conflicts throughout the MS hockey season.   We try to keep the rosters big to account for those absences.

Please register your child according to his/her grade in 2018-19 --- Grade 6, 7, or 8.   Hopefully we will be able to field three teams.
